HAND FOOT SYNDROME: some oncological treatments damage the skin especially in the palms of the hands and feet, due to the accumulation of the therapeutic substance in these areas, where the skin is thicker. In 65% of the treated, this accumulation causes lesions that can range from simple tingling or evolve to redness that sometimes progress to swelling and edema to cause thickening and dryness of the skin. In severe cases it can lead to the formation of fissures and vesicles which can be so painful and disabling that chemotherapy must be stopped.

RADIOTHERAPY RADIODERMITIS: ionizing radiations determine the appearance of a skin reaction as a consequence of the exposure of the skin to their direct action. About 95% of patients undergoing radiation treatment complain of a skin reaction of varying degrees. Actinic damage manifests itself in a wide range of reactions. In milder cases a skin rash may appear, while in more severe cases, the patient experiences a more marked and profound reaction with the appearance of a real burn. Skin cells, being rapidly reproducing and differentiating cells, are highly radiosensitive. The severity of actinic reactions depends on various factors. Some of which are directly related to the type of treatment while others are specific to the patient. These include physiological aspects of the skin itself, lifestyle habits, and the presence of other pathologies of the subject undergoing radiation treatment.

Declaran: NAC protection

Thanks to its components, this formulation has an antioxidant (N-acetylcysteine), soothing (vitamin E), softening (urea), healing (panthenol, mimosa), antiseptic (mimosa) and moisturizing (ceramides) skin action.

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) works by restoring the natural intracellular antioxidant: glutathione (GSH). When brought back to normal levels, GSH is able to neutralize free radicals produced in cells subjected to oxidative stress (caused by radiant or chemical agents), thus protecting the skin from skin alterations.

Urea, on the other hand, thanks to its moisturizing and emollient action, is able to replenish the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) of the epidermis. This ingredient also has an important keratolytic activity, which favors the penetration and action of NAC.

NAC protection also contains: olus oil and lactic acid, which have a further emollient, moisturizing and softening action.

INDICATIONS

Specifically designed to protect the skin and prevent skin alterations caused by exogenous, physical or chemical oxidizing agents. NAC protection increases the antioxidant capacity of the skin by preventing the appearance of redness and cracking.

HOW TO USE

Begin topical therapy three days before exposure to oxidizing agents, with two applications per day. Apply the cream on the affected areas at least three hours before exposure. Massage lightly to promote absorption. If necessary, apply up to four times a day. Continue topical treatment for twenty days after the end of exposure to the oxidizing agent.
